Trendelenburg 2.3 LIVE STREAM
Trendelenburg is a live platform focused to spread postdigital audiovisual creations. The main event is a free annual meeting to be held on 1st, 2nd and 3th of March in public spaces in the city of Gijón, Asturias. This year, in those days, we will have a large selection of national and international artists, workshops, round table, and paralell activities to enjoy and share work between public and artists.
For this year edition Trendelenburg will count with names as Mia Makela-SOLU, Finnish artist and cultural activist; the German Tina Tonagel, experimental media artist who use transparencies in her shows; the Asturian Juanjo Palacios, sound artist and phonographer; Leo Bettinelli, Argentine musician with unconventional instruments, the Leonese IRÍSONO, musical explorer; the Asturian Tape + Fernando Gutierrez, multimedia artists, and the minimalist musician Pina from Barcelona.
This year 2012 means to TRENDELENBURG a revival of objectives and the very essence of the project. Three days of activities, live performances and meetings with the crowd distributed throughout different locations in Gijón as Aquarium, Barjola’s Museum and Casa Natal de Jovellanos Museum.
Furthermore, Trendelenburg will team up with Forward Council helping to all who won’t be able to attend and physically enjoy Trendelenburg broadcasting the live performances by streaming video throught Forward Council web site and his own site as well.

In response to the concept of the proposals, the programme is divided into different cycles:
TRENDELENBURG is conceived as a platform to spread audiovisual projects that offer their greatest exponent in live performance. Thus, in Light&Sound the artists present a live audiovisual project, followed by a meeting with the public where they will discuss the project, the working method, the tools used, all in unique spaces that will endure in memory as part of the work.
The cancellation of one sense to encourage another. In Obscure, projects are closer to sound art, where often the presence of the visual prevents full enjoyment of the production and nuances of the work. The public will enjoy the live performance in total darkness.
The most fun part of electronic experimentation, in a club environment. During the different days of the meeting, visual artists and musicians will propose different formats that may allow us to see the artistic creation from different perspectives.
With the sole aim of making the public aware of new tools for artistic creation several workshops are offered, for children too, teaching guidelines on specialized software or how to work out a live electronic performance based on improvisation.
Round table: “Experimental art, today”
Round table for the discussion of the present and future of the emerging arts (digital art, new media, sound art…), at its most experimental aspect, from the perspective of cultural institutions (public and private), artistic groups and established artists. The goal of this discussion is to provide a meeting point between the different visions and objectives, with the aim of opening new paths of understanding to bridge the gap between mainstream culture, or institutional culture, and its objectives and responsibilities, and the needs and commitment on the part of creators. It is relevant to mark the enormous distance that separates these two worlds that are necessarily required to understand. A starting point of the dialogue, due to its importance, is to understand the need that institutions have for formalization and methodology and the shortcomings that this entails, and on the other hand, the infrastructure, diffusion and support required by artists, who are more interested in the creation process than in the diffusion of their work, with the problems that this also generates.
